This therapeutic balm is designed for deep hydration, skin protection, and even respiratory support. It combines the soothing, anti-inflammatory properties of infused mullein leaves with the grounding, antiseptic qualities of cedarwood essential oil.

Key Characteristics & Benefits
  • Scent: Woody, earthy, and, in some cases, slightly sweet or balsamic, designed to evoke a "forest" feel.
  • Texture: A thick, nourishing balm containing beeswax and shea butter that melts upon skin contact, providing a protective barrier.
  • Skin Benefits: Mullein acts as a gentle, calming agent for irritated, inflamed, or dry skin, while Cedarwood offers antiseptic properties, making it useful for skin irritations, minor burns, or dry, cracked areas.
  • Versatility: Often used as a general skin salve, a chest rub, or a beard balm

History

Mullein (Verbascum thapsus), introduced to North America in the 1700s, was used as a sedative and medicinal herb for coughs, and quickly spread across the continent. Native to Europe, Asia, and Africa, Mullein has a rich history as a medicinal plant, with early Roman and Greek use for respiratory ailments, in addition to being used as lamp wicks and torches.

Cedarwood has history spanning over 4000 years valued by ancient civilizations for its durability, aroma, and spiritual significance. Originally used by Sumerians and Egyptians for construction and embalming, it was revered in the Middle East for temples and medicine. Its essential oil remains a staple in modern aromatherapy.

All my products are ethically and sustainably produced and sourced. Many of the herbs I grow myself in my home garden in Virginia. I use recyclable & reusable shipping boxes and kraft wadding, biodegradable packing, dye-free recyclable crinkle paper and re-use shipping materials whenever possible. I work to protect plant populations by thoughtfully choosing trusted biodynamic, organic, and wildcrafted sources, maintaining sensitivity to the status of at risk plants and regions. I prefer to source herbs from smaller farmers who are using regenerative agriculture practices that enhance and improve soil health, optimize resource management, alleviate climate change, and improve water quality.
